Tenant Resources

Members of the Community Action Tenants Union Ireland (CATU) have put together this database as a resource for tenant organising. You can develop a data-driven sense of which landlords are most likely to evict, which housing providers cannot be trusted and clear goals when resisting an eviction. Knowing your landlord better also means knowing to hit them where it hurts when resisting!

Are you in a property owned by one of our bonafide worst evictors?

Stay organised. Join your local branch of Community Action Tenants Union (CATU) and make a plan with your neighbours, who are just as precarious at the hands of landlords, and will band together in support to fight any evictions.

What is CATU?

CATU Ireland is a union for communities and tenants, that means renters, council tenants, mortgage holders and people in emergency & precarious living situations. By a union we mean you, and your fellow members coming together to combat common problems. An organisation fighting for collective gains in the homes, communities and lives of all of our members.

Community Action Tenants Union – We only want the Earth

CATU was founded with a concern for some of the greatest issues affecting ordinary people in their communities across the island of Ireland. A major problem for many is the housing crisis - high rents, lack of security, and rising homelessness. For others it is the privatisation of our public services, racism and other social issues and discrimination, or lack of funding for the community that hits them hardest.

Anyone can join if they are a tenant or a member of their local community, and so long as they don’t make money off of renting out property.

No branch in your neighbourhood?

Sign up and set one up yourself. Organizing relies on local community power built through chats with neighbours, regular meetings, and strategies in place to protect those renters most vulnerable in this housing crisis. Organizing also involves building community by putting together fun family days, setting up support groups and so on! Get in touch to find out more.
